Last Known Victim of Green River Killer Identified as Tammie Liles
Forensic Genetics Genealogy Testing Used to Identify Remains Found in 2003
- Remains of the last-known victim of the Green River Killer, Gary Ridgway, have been identified as Tammie Liles, a teenager from Washington State.
- The remains, known as 'Bones 20', were first discovered in 2003 but could not be immediately identified.
- King’s County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) contracted the Texas-based Othram lab in 2022 to build a DNA profile off the remains using forensic genetics genealogy testing.
- In August 2023, the lab tentatively identified the remains as Liles, a finding that was later confirmed using a DNA sample from the late teen’s mother.
- Ridgway, now 74, is currently serving life in prison without the possibility of parole at the Washington State Penitentiary.
