Overview
- John Anthony Miller, 44, from Las Vegas has been charged with leaving a series of antisemitic and threatening voicemails targeting Nevada's US Senator, Jacky Rosen. One of the voice messages allegedly stated that he was going to 'finish what Hitler started.'
- Miller mainly attacked Rosen's Jewish heritage and her active advocacy for Israel during its ongoing conflict with Hamas, according to the Department of Justice. Miller allegedly threatened to assault, kidnap, or murder Rosen as a way of interfering with her official duties.
- According to reports, Miller allegedly tried to visit Rosen at the Lloyd D. George Courthouse in Las Vegas on October 18 but was denied entry. After being turned away, he reportedly began shouting profanities and threatening to kill Israelis.
- The increase in antisemitic threats and attacks across the U.S., particularly following the October 7 attack by Hamas in Israel, has raised concerns among federal law enforcement and advocacy groups. The Anti-Defamation League reported a 388% surge in antisemitic incidents following the attacks.
- Miller was arrested on October 26 and faces one count of threatening a federal official. If convicted, he faces up to a year in prison.
