Overview
- Las Leñas has finalized designs and secured the Valle Hermoso concession expiring in December to begin lagoon-area refurbishments in summer 2025–26
- The first phase will establish a boutique lodge with capacity for 40 winter guests and 70 in summer alongside snowcat transport for up to 10 people per trip by winter 2026
- Hybrid off-grid infrastructure will integrate solar panels, microturbines and wastewater treatment to support continuous operations without grid connections
- Artificial snowmaking on existing lower slopes will continue but remains constrained by the need for sub-zero temperatures and specific humidity levels
- The expansion responds to a 15-year megadrought in Mendoza that has cut snowfall by roughly 30 percent and threatens both tourism viability and regional water supplies
