Overview

  • The premiere at Castell d’Alaquàs introduced eight short films that reinterpret photographs damaged by last October’s floods
  • Participants applied documentary filmmaking techniques since May under the mentorship of Nuria Giménez, Sergio Oksman and Víctor Serna
  • The initiative builds on the Universitat de València’s ‘Salvem les fotos’ program, which recovered photo albums in Torrent, Alfafar, Utiel and other towns after the Dana of October 29, 2024
  • Fernando Méndez-Leite said the floods compounded the disaster by erasing both domestic and professional film heritage
  • Organizers plan to stage future public screenings at the Academia de Cine’s headquarters to reach broader audiences
