Largo Man Arrested After Smashing About 80 Pumpkins at Target, Charged With Felony Mischief

Deputies say he admitted to the vandalism after returning to the store, citing anger over a Facebook dispute.

Overview

  • Store surveillance recorded the suspect selecting pumpkins from outdoor bins at the Ulmerton Road Target around 1:15 a.m. on Oct. 21 and smashing them on the ground.
  • An arrest affidavit estimates roughly 80 pumpkins were destroyed, with the damage totaling $472.14.
  • When confronted with the video days later, the suspect identified himself to law enforcement by saying, “That’s me.”
  • He told investigators he acted because someone was “messing with him on Facebook,” according to the affidavit.
  • He was arrested on Oct. 25, booked into the Pinellas County Jail on a felony criminal mischief charge with a $5,000 bond, and was ordered to stay away from the store.
