Overview
- The blaze broke out in a derelict building on St Clements Road in Keynsham on Thursday and prompted a major response from Avon Fire and Rescue.
- Firefighters deployed multiple appliances including a turntable ladder and, at the peak, 12 fire engines to tackle the fire and heavy smoke.
- Keynsham Health Centre (St Augustine's Medical Practice) was evacuated and was expected to remain closed for the rest of the day while staff contacted affected patients.
- The majority of the fire had been brought under control by about 5.15pm using water jets, high-pressure hose reels and a high-volume pump, with crews staying on site into the evening to check for hotspots.
