Overview
- Firefighters from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service responded to a large blaze at Arbroath Harbour and put it out after crews attended the scene.
- Police Scotland confirmed they received a report of the fire at around 9:50am on Tuesday and said there were no reports of any injuries.
- On-scene footage and photographs showed flames coming from a bundle of fishing creels and a thick plume of black smoke rising above the harbour and nearby homes.
- Enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the fire and authorities have not yet released a determination or an expected timeline for the investigation.
- Arbroath is a working east-coast fishing port and fishing creels and other harbour kit can burn easily, which can cause heavy smoke, local disruption and the need for safety checks after an incident.
