Overview
- Lara Gutiérrez’s mother, Stella Maris Castro, held an informational meeting with Prosecutor Adrián Arribas to urge that the case remain under provincial jurisdiction.
 - Arribas previously declared himself incompetent after tying the motive to drug traffickers, leaving the question of moving the case to federal court for the judge to decide, as relatives of the other two victims have requested.
 - The prosecutor’s office stated that the family’s request is outside its control because the decision now rests with the court.
 - The judge is also weighing preventive detentions for Mónica Mujica and Joseph Freyser Cubas Zavaleta, known as “Señor J,” who was accused of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated homicide.
 - Eight suspects are already in preventive detention, while several others remain fugitives and one is detained in Peru awaiting extradition.
