LAPD seeks suspects in repeated attacks on transgender convenience store owner

Overview

  • Sabrina de la Peña, 61, operates a Westlake convenience store and was assaulted again on May 31, resulting in serious injuries.
  • Police say the same group first targeted her on April 8 after a suspect discovered she is transgender and threatened to kill her.
  • Surveillance footage shows the men striking her with a skateboard, using pepper spray, throwing an unknown liquid and attempting to stun her with a Taser.
  • Detectives released photos of three young men and urged anyone with information or other victims to contact the LAPD’s Rampart Division.
  • The suspects fled before officers arrived in each incident and remain at large as investigators probe for additional leads.
