Overview

• The incident began around 10 p.m. near Fourth Street and Blanchard Street in Boyle Heights, where a victim was shot in the neck, according to LAPD.
• An LAPD helicopter spotted a white Honda Pilot fleeing the scene and guided ground units through City Terrace, downtown Los Angeles and Westlake.
• The roughly hourlong pursuit reached more than 100 mph before the SUV went off the freeway and crashed near Ramona Boulevard in Monterey Park.
• California Highway Patrol officers took the driver into custody at the crash site, and a second person was detained nearby after fleeing uphill.
