LAPD Arrests Suspect, Recovers $1.46 Million in Stolen Train Cargo in East L.A. Raid

Police say the multiagency cargo-theft probe remains active with further arrests expected.

Overview

  • Detectives identified the suspect as 41-year-old Alejandro Aguilar-Espinoza and booked him for receiving stolen property after an arrest without incident.
  • A search warrant was served on Oct. 6 at a residence in the 4300 block of Verona Street in East Los Angeles.
  • Recovered goods were valued at approximately $1,460,000 and included Nike shoes, Milwaukee tools and electronic equipment.
  • The operation involved Union Pacific Railroad Police, Los Angeles Port Police, L.A. World Airport Police and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
  • Investigators asked the public to share tips with the LAPD Commercial Crimes Division Cargo Theft Unit or through L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers.
