Overview

  • The landslide occurred early on June 21 between Edakumari and Shiribagilu stations, bringing the Sakleshpur–Subrahmanya Road corridor to a standstill.
  • Boulders rolling down the hill onto the tracks disrupted both freight and passenger trains through the Dakshina Kannada section.
  • Train services including the KSR Bengaluru–Kannur Express, SMVT Bengaluru–Murdeshwar Express and VijayapuraMangaluru Central Express Special were delayed by the obstruction.
  • South Western Railway dispatched crews for debris removal and set up provision of drinking water, light refreshments and tea onboard stranded trains.
  • Passengers are instructed to monitor live train statuses using NTES or ‘Where is My Train’ apps and to reach out to @RailwaySeva or call 139 for urgent assistance.
