• On July 26 the city began clearing roughly 200 cubic meters of soil that fell onto a 4-meter-wide section of the Higashimata road 8.2 km south of Sawarajima Lodge.
• Officials secured a walking detour for the lodge’s 117 climbers and construction workers and reported no injuries or health issues as of Saturday morning.
• Some stranded individuals have started descending via the newly established mountain path.
• The lodge’s generators, landline phones and stockpiled provisions have sustained everyone with electricity, communications, water and food.
• Authorities are targeting a full road reopening by noon on July 27 after today’s safety inspection and debris removal.
