Overview
- Ruth Lawrence has pleaded not guilty to murdering Anthony Keegan, 33, and Eoin O’Connor, 32, between 22 April and 26 May 2014.
- Landlord Declan McCabe told the Central Criminal Court that Lawrence asked about taking a boat on the lake and later collected an electric engine on 23 April before returning it the next day saying they did not really go out.
- McCabe said the engine’s battery indicator remained green, suggesting little or no use, and he found the rented cottage abandoned on 29 April with the couple’s three dogs gone.
- A statement read from Sean Symes said groups of men twice came to his home looking for his father, with threats that he would have his throat slit and his fingers and toes cut off in front of his children.
- The prosecution says Lawrence and her boyfriend, Neville van der Westhuizen, killed the men, disposed of the bodies on Lough Inchicup, and left the country, and jurors were told associate Jason Symes traveled with them before returning to speak to gardaí.
