Overview

  • The B Stand at Emirates Old Trafford was officially christened the Sir Clive Lloyd and Farokh Engineer Stand on July 23 ahead of the fourth Test between England and India.
  • Lancashire’s one-day supremacy in the early 1970s stemmed from Engineer’s 1968 signing and Lloyd’s early-1970s arrival, which delivered four Gillette Cups and two John Player League titles.
  • Engineer became the first Indian player to have a stand named after him in England and said the honour made up for a lack of recognition in his home country.
  • Lloyd described sharing the accolade with Engineer and all teammates, expressing hope that the stand will inspire future generations of cricketers.
  • Both legends, inducted into Lancashire’s Hall of Fame in 2020 and serving as vice-presidents, have accumulated extensive first-class and List A records and Engineer received a BCCI Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024.
