LaMonica McIver Wins Democratic Primary to Succeed Late Rep. Donald Payne Jr.

Newark City Council President secures nomination in deep-blue New Jersey district, setting stage for September's special general election.

McIver emerged victorious among 11 Democratic candidates to fill the unexpired term of Donald Payne Jr.
She received key endorsements from Gov. Phil Murphy and Sen. Cory Booker, along with the Congressional Progressive Caucus.
The district, one of the most Democratic in New Jersey, makes McIver the favorite against Republican Carmen Bucco.
