Overview
- The Lalbaugcha Raja mandal opened its dan peti on Tuesday and started a formal counting process for cash and foreign currency.
- Bank of Maharashtra staff, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation personnel and mandal members jointly conducted the count to ensure transparent handling.
- Cash counted during the exercise is scheduled for evening deposit and will support the mandal’s dialysis, patient aid, computer centre, library and book‑bank programmes.
- Gold, silver, diamond jewellery and unusual offerings such as dollar garlands and wooden bats were separated from cash and remain to be valued and fully assessed.
- The ritual draws very large daily crowds to Lalbaug, a public Ganesh mandal founded in 1934 that the Kambli family has long fashioned, and continued high attendance tested crowd and facility arrangements after Day 1 reports of long queues and shortages.
