Lalbaugcha Raja First Look Set For Tonight in Parel

The unveiling begins preparations for a fortnight of Ganeshotsav that will draw large crowds, disrupt local transport and demand tight crowd control.

Overview

  • The Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal will reveal the idol’s first look at 7pm on Friday, September 11, at its Shree Ganesh Nagar pandal in Lalbaug Market, Parel.
  • The Mandal organised a special photo session for media before the public reveal to offer early images of this year’s idol.
  • The 2026 festival is officially scheduled from Ganesh Chaturthi on September 14 to Anant Chaturdashi (visarjan) on September 25 and marks the Mandal’s 93rd year.
  • Devotees should expect long queues that can extend to many hours during peak times and plan travel via nearby stations such as Curry Road, Chinchpokli, Lower Parel, Cotton Green or Dadar East.
  • The Lalbaugcha Raja tradition began with a 1934 navas by local fishermen and traders and the Mandal now runs social and educational programs while managing one of Mumbai’s largest annual public gatherings.
