Lalbagh’s Independence Day Flower Show Readies Kittur Kingdom Tribute

This year’s show at Lalbagh Glass House features monumental floral reconstructions with multimedia broadcasts honoring Rani Chennamma’s and Sangolli Rayanna’s legacies.

  • Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the 218th Lalbagh flower show at the Glass House on August 7.
  • Horticultural teams have completed a massive floral replica of Kittur Fort alongside life-size figures of Rani Chennamma on horseback and Sangolli Rayanna.
  • Eight outdoor screens have been set up across Lalbagh to broadcast archival records, film clips and documentaries about the Kittur freedom fighters.
  • The exhibition opens to the public on August 8 and is expected to draw 10 to 11 lakh visitors by its August 18 close.
  • Allied horticultural exhibitions begin on August 9 and the prize distribution ceremony for competition winners is scheduled for August 16.
