Lakeville Highway Head-On Crash Leaves 1 Dead as Mustang Driver Is Arrested on Suspicion of DUI

Investigators say the southbound Mustang crossed double yellow lines to pass in a no-passing zone.

  • CHP says the three-vehicle collision occurred just before 6 a.m. Sunday south of Old Lakeville Road No. 3 near Petaluma.
  • Preliminary findings indicate the Mustang struck a northbound Honda HR-V head-on, causing the Toyota Highlander it attempted to pass to spin off the roadway.
  • The Honda passenger died at the scene, the Honda driver and the Mustang driver sustained major injuries, and all six occupants of the Toyota were unhurt.
  • Lakeville Highway was closed for roughly four and a half hours with detours while emergency crews and investigators worked the scene.
