Lakers to Unveil Pat Riley Statue Feb. 22 Ahead of Celtics Game

It is scheduled as part of the Lakers’ 2025–26 schedule release to highlight Riley’s four championships during the Showtime era.

  • On Feb. 22, 2026 the Lakers will unveil a bronze statue of Pat Riley at Star Plaza outside Crypto.com Arena before hosting the Boston Celtics.
  • Riley will become the eighth figure honored at Star Plaza alongside franchise legends including Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Kobe Bryant.
  • The unveiling date underscores Riley’s historic Finals triumphs over Boston in 1985 and 1987 during the famed LakersCeltics rivalry.
  • From 1981 to 1990 Riley led the Showtime Lakers to four NBA titles, compiling a 533–194 regular-season record and 102 playoff victories.
  • The statue announcement was released with the Lakers’ 2025–26 schedule, which also features a November 2 matchup against Riley’s current team, the Miami Heat.
