Lakers' Christian Koloko Cleared to Return After Blood Clot Scare

The NBA's fitness-to-play panel has given the green light for Koloko to resume his basketball career with the Lakers.

Christian Koloko, a center for the Los Angeles Lakers, has been medically cleared to play after a blood clot issue sidelined him since April 2023.
The NBA's fitness-to-play panel, consisting of three physicians, granted Koloko clearance following corrective surgery over the summer.
Koloko signed a two-way contract with the Lakers this offseason, having previously played for the Toronto Raptors where he averaged 3.1 points and 2.9 rebounds in his rookie season.
The Lakers plan to have Koloko begin practicing immediately, with potential game action following a ramp-up period, possibly starting in the G League.
Koloko's return provides crucial depth to the Lakers' frontcourt, especially with Christian Wood currently recovering from knee surgery.
