Lake Tahoe to Welcome First Electric Hydrofoil Ferry in the U.S.

The Candela P-12 ferry will offer faster, zero-emission travel across the lake, reducing congestion and environmental impact.

The Candela P-12, the world’s fastest electric ferry, will soon begin service at Lake Tahoe, providing a 30-minute north-south connection across the lake.
The hydrofoil design allows the ferry to 'fly' above water, reducing drag and energy consumption by 80% compared to traditional vessels.
The ferry aims to cut emissions, decrease road sediment runoff, and protect Lake Tahoe’s cobalt-blue clarity, while alleviating road congestion caused by 20,000 daily car trips around the lake.
FlyTahoe, a local operator, will manage the service, which is expected to improve winter access to ski resorts and reduce summer gridlock for tourists and locals.
Candela recently raised an additional $14 million in Series C funding to scale production of its zero-emission vessels, with the Tahoe project marking its first U.S. deployment.
