Overview

• Troopers responded around 1:20 a.m. Monday to the westbound lanes of I-12 near Louisiana Highway 1249 in Hammond.
• Investigators say Dentreal A. Mouton was walking west in the left lane when a 2019 Honda Accord, also headed west, struck him.
• Mouton, 24, of Lafayette, was pronounced dead at the scene.
• The driver was properly restrained and was not injured, according to Louisiana State Police.
• No charges or toxicology findings have been released as the investigation by LSP Troop L continues.
