Overview
- MTV said Aug. 30 that Lady Gaga will perform at the VMAs, returning to the show for the first time since 2020 and leading all artists with 12 nominations, including artist of the year and album of the year for Mayhem.
- The VMAs air live Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. ET from UBS Arena, hosted by LL Cool J, and will be televised on CBS for the first time, simulcast on MTV and stream on Paramount+ in the U.S.
- A broad performance lineup includes Doja Cat, Post Malone, Jelly Roll, Sabrina Carpenter, Tate McRae, J Balvin, Conan Gray, Alex Warren, Sombr and DJ Snake, with Mariah Carey also set to perform.
- Special honors will spotlight Mariah Carey with the Video Vanguard Award, Busta Rhymes with the inaugural Rock the Bells Visionary Award and Ricky Martin with the first Latin Icon Award.
- Because Gaga has a Mayhem Ball concert at Madison Square Garden the same night, outlets report her VMA set will likely be broadcast from that venue, as she readies new single The Dead Dance for Sept. 3 and fan voting remains open through Sept. 5 for most categories.
