Ladakh LG Secures Defence Assurances on Winter Aid and Air Connectivity
An in-principle pledge sets up inter-agency planning to keep Ladakh connected through winter.
Overview
- On November 3 in New Delhi, Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to seek winter preparedness support for Ladakh.
 - The administration requested continued humanitarian assistance under the Army’s Operation Sadbhavana to sustain education, healthcare and community welfare in remote areas.
 - Gupta sought continuation of Kargil–Thoise–Chandigarh air services and enhanced Leh–Delhi air-maintenance and logistical flights to move essentials, passengers and medical evacuees when roads close.
 - Rajnath Singh acknowledged the concerns and assured coordination with relevant agencies to provide all feasible assistance to improve connectivity and humanitarian outreach.
 - Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination to operationalise the proposals before heavy snowfall severs road access, with execution details still pending.
