Overview
- The Ladakh administration formed a UT-level committee Monday to plan how to run five newly created districts.
- The new units are Changthang, Nubra, Sham, Zanskar and Drass, which the lieutenant governor notified on April 27.
- The panel will plan new district offices and lay out the steps for a smooth start with the aim of faster service delivery in the new districts.
- It will recommend territorial reorganisation across subdivisions, tehsils, niabats, girdawar or qanungo circles and patwar halqas to match the new boundaries.
- The Divisional Commissioner chairs the panel, joined by the Rural Development and General Administration secretaries and the deputy commissioners of Leh and Kargil.
