Labour MP Dan Norris Arrested on Suspicion of Rape and Child Sex Offences

The MP for North East Somerset and Hanham has been suspended by the Labour Party and released on conditional bail as a police investigation continues.

Dan Norris, a Labour MP and former junior minister, was arrested on April 4, 2025, on suspicion of rape, child sex offences, child abduction, and misconduct in public office.
The allegations include non-recent offences from the 2000s and a rape allegation from the 2020s, with the case referred to Avon and Somerset Police in December 2024.
Norris has been suspended by the Labour Party, lost the party whip in the House of Commons, and stepped down as chairman of the League Against Cruel Sports.
The investigation is being led by Operation Bluestone, a specialist team handling rape and serious sexual assault cases, with the victim receiving specialist support.
Authorities have urged against speculation to protect the integrity of the investigation, which is in its early stages.
