Labour Day Weekend Brings Holiday Closures, Adjusted Transit and Full Event Calendars in Regina, Sudbury and Windsor-Essex

Labour councils are using family-oriented gatherings to spotlight worker priorities and community support.

Here's what's open and closed in Metro Vancouver over the Labour Day long weekend.

Overview

  • Most government offices and banks are closed Monday and Canada Post will not deliver mail, while many malls in Regina operate noon to 5 p.m. and selected city pools and facilities observe special hours.
  • Regina Transit runs on a Sunday schedule with paratransit available 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and attractions vary: the Royal Saskatchewan Museum is open, while the MacKenzie and Slate galleries are closed Sunday and Monday.
  • Greater Sudbury says most municipal operations are closed Monday but recycling remains open, residential waste collection proceeds as usual, and GOVA buses run on a holiday timetable.
  • Sudbury’s Labour Day in the Park is set for Sept. 1 at Delki Dozzi Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a sensory-friendly hour from 10 to 11 a.m., and organizers emphasize advocacy on wages, health care and childcare.
  • Windsor-Essex hosts a packed lineup including the Walkerville Night Market on Friday, The S’Aints’ free food-bank fundraiser in Leamington and Tecumseh fireworks on Saturday, the Harrow Fair through Sunday, and Windsor’s Labour Day Parade to Lanspeary Park on Monday.
