  • Federal government offices and the Georgia State Capitol will be closed in observance of the holiday on Monday, Sept. 1.
  • The United States Postal Service will not run regular mail and UPS will suspend deliveries while FedEx limits service to its Custom Critical network.
  • Major banks and U.S. stock exchanges will also be closed on Labor Day, with most ATMs continuing to handle basic transactions.
  • Many retailers including Walmart, Walgreens and Kroger will remain open, but Costco will observe its annual closure and fast-food chains like Starbucks and Taco Bell will offer varied hours.
  • Trash and recycling pickup may be delayed in cities such as Athens, Atlanta and Savannah, and most public and private schools will be closed with schedules varying by district.
