Overview

• The 70th Hyundai Filmfare Awards took place on October 11 at EKA Arena in Ahmedabad in partnership with Gujarat Tourism.
• Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies won 13 awards including Best Film and Best Director, tying the single-film record set by Gully Boy.
• Alia Bhatt won Best Actress for Jigra, while Abhishek Bachchan (I Want to Talk) and Kartik Aaryan (Chandu Champion) shared Best Actor, and Pratibha Ranta earned Best Actress (Critics) for Laapataa Ladies.
• Debut honours went to Lakshya for Kill and Nitanshi Goel for Laapataa Ladies, with Shah Rukh Khan helping Goel after a brief stumble on stage in a moment widely praised online.
• Hosting duties were led by Shah Rukh Khan with Karan Johar and Maniesh Paul, and the night featured SRK–Kajol reunions that recreated DDLJ and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai moments, as Zeenat Aman received a Lifetime Achievement Award and Shyam Benegal was honoured posthumously.
