Overview

  • The opening ceremony for the 2028 Olympics on July 14 will be split between the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and the modern SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, a first in Olympic history.
  • The Coliseum will host the Olympic closing ceremony on July 30, while the Paralympics will open at SoFi Stadium on August 15 and close at the Coliseum on August 27.
  • The Coliseum will become the first venue in history to host events at three separate Olympic Games, having previously been used in 1932 and 1984.
  • SoFi Stadium, opened in 2020, will make its Olympic debut, also hosting swimming competitions during the Games.
  • Los Angeles will host the Paralympic Games for the first time, with the broader LA28 strategy emphasizing sustainability and the use of existing venues across Southern California.
