Overview

• Security cameras recorded the 7:20–7:30 a.m. shooting of 32-year-old José Manuel Estrada at the Humboldt–Parinacochas intersection in La Victoria.
• PNP activated a containment plan and detained José Wilbani Peña Zapata, 23, and Richard Espinoza Medina, 18, roughly three minutes after the attack.
• Officers seized a firearm, a magazine, ammunition and the motorcycle used, and investigators documented at least ten shell casings at the scene.
• No robbery was reported at the site, the detainees remain silent, and the case is now with the Homicide Division as investigators examine motive including a possible ajuste de cuentas.
• In a separate case the same day, a miner in Apurímac was fatally shot after being robbed of more than 50,000 soles, as national reports cite 5,273 homicides this year.
