LA School Counselor Charged with Sexual Assault of 16-Year-Old Student

Julie Tichon, formerly of YULA High School, faces multiple felony charges and potential five-year prison sentence; police seek additional victims.

Julie Tichon, 37, was arrested on August 29 and charged with multiple felonies, including unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and oral copulation of a person under 18.
The alleged assaults occurred between February and March 2024 while Tichon was employed as a guidance counselor at YULA High School in Los Angeles.
Tichon pleaded not guilty at her arraignment on September 19 and was released on her own recognizance; her next court appearance is scheduled for November 1.
Los Angeles Police believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
District Attorney George Gascón emphasized the breach of trust and its impact on the community, committing to seek justice for the victim and hold Tichon accountable.
