L.A. Prosecutors to File Felony Battery Charge Against Raja Jackson in Live-Streamed Wrestling Attack

Prosecutors plan a great bodily injury enhancement following an in-ring assault that left Stuart "Syko Stu" Smith with severe facial and jaw trauma.

Overview

  • A criminal complaint expected Tuesday will allege one felony battery causing serious bodily injury and one misdemeanor battery, according to the district attorney’s office.
  • An arraignment is anticipated later this week; Jackson was arrested in September and released on $50,000 bail.
  • Video from the Aug. 23 KnokX Pro event shows Jackson body-slamming Smith and throwing more than 20 punches after Smith appeared unconscious.
  • The attack was streamed on Kick, where Jackson said the run-in "isn’t going to be scripted" following an earlier beer-can strike that Smith later apologized for.
  • Smith spent about a week hospitalized with a maxilla fracture, jaw trauma, a lacerated lip, and several lost teeth, and multiple wrestlers were needed to pull Jackson off.
