Overview
- The Policía Ecológica executed a July 17 raid on a San Carlos residence in La Plata after a complaint from Fundación Planeta Vivo led to the discovery of illegal wildlife captivity
 - Officers uncovered deplorable hygienic conditions with cramped cages holding seven tortoises, four parrots, two tití monkeys and roughly 200 birds alongside animal remains
 - Rescued specimens were swiftly moved to Bioparque Temaikén in Escobar for veterinary care, quarantine and assessment to mitigate zoonotic and cross-species health risks
 - The case is being investigated by Unidad Funcional de Instrucción N°6 and Juzgado de Garantías N°4, with the suspect facing charges under Ley 14.346 on animal cruelty and Ley 22.421 on fauna protection
 - This operation is part of a sustained collaboration between environmental authorities and Fundación Planeta Vivo to dismantle wildlife trafficking and enforce Argentina’s protection statutes
