Overview

  • The Hyde Park station at Crenshaw and Slauson was officially renamed the Nipsey Hussle Station from August 15 through August 31.
  • Metro allocated 12,000 limited-edition TAP cards featuring two designs: a Jonathan Mannion portrait at Crenshaw & Slauson and an image of Hussle in the back of a Metro bus.
  • Cards are available at select stations—including the temporarily renamed stop—Metro Customer Centers and through the Low-Income Fare is Easy program for qualifying South L.A. riders.
  • The activation forms part of Metro’s ongoing Metro x Culture campaign and was developed in partnership with Nipsey Hussle’s estate.
  • Metro framed the tribute as honoring his influence on Los Angeles culture, entrepreneurship, community uplift and the power of public transit to build opportunity.
