David Josue Lopes, 38, was charged with one felony count of forcible lewd act upon a child under 14, with allegations of aggravated kidnapping and infliction of bodily harm. Authorities say the Nov. 5 incident occurred inside a Hollywood restaurant where the child was taken to an enclosed area and physically and sexually assaulted. Lopes pleaded not guilty at a Nov. 10 arraignment and remains held without bail, with a Dec. 12 hearing scheduled at the Foltz Criminal Justice Center. District Attorney Nathan Hochman called the allegations horrifying and pledged to use every legal tool available to seek justice for the victim. Detectives are seeking tips about potential additional victims, and reporting differs on whether the victim was 14 or under 14 as reflected in the DA’s charge language.
