L.A. Film and TV Shoot Days Fall 16% in 2025, Lowest Since 2020

Expanded state tax credits, with many approved projects starting in early 2026, could catalyze a turnaround.

  • Commercial shoots fell 23.2% year over year in Q4, television dropped 21.9%, and feature films declined 19.7%.
  • Within TV, pilot production sank 62.5% in Q4 and dramas fell 36.4%, while reality and comedy were down 9.8% and 6%, respectively.
  • Incentivized projects accounted for about 13% of Q4 activity, and roughly 118 projects have been approved under the expanded tax-credit program, with many expected to begin filming in the first half of 2026.
