La Fe in Valencia Leads Spain in Heart Transplants, Reaching 1,097 Since 1987

Officials credit donor generosity for the program’s sustained results.

  • Spain’s national transplant organization (ONT) confirms La Fe as the country’s top center for heart transplants across adult, pediatric and combined cases.
  • La Fe also leads in simultaneous procedures that include heart, lung and kidney, reflecting its capacity for highly complex surgery.
  • In 2024 the hospital carried out 395 organ transplants, including 47 heart procedures, 105 liver and a record 100 lung transplants.
  • Through the first nine months of 2025 the Valencian Community has recorded 486 transplants: 301 kidney, 80 liver, 34 heart, 66 lung and 5 pancreas.
  • The region marked 305 donors and 696 transplants in 2024, with donation rates about 10 points above the national average and 242 donors already registered so far in 2025.
