Overview
- LACDA opened registration Tuesday for site-based waiting lists at 16 properties and will take applications through 5 p.m. on Sept. 16.
- The intake covers 10 elderly-designated sites and six general-occupancy sites listed by the agency, with smaller sites closing early once 1,000 applications are received.
- Applicants are chosen first by applicable preferences and then by the date and time they registered, and rejecting an offered unit removes an applicant from all other selected lists.
- Public housing rents are capped at no more than 30% of adjusted monthly gross income, and LACDA says the program helps households stabilize after events that drain savings.
- The reopening applies to only 16 of LACDA’s 68 properties, demand is expected to exceed openings, the agency’s Section 8 waiting list stays closed, and LACDA offers online, phone, and in-person help with applications.
