Overview

• District Attorney’s Office charged Jossimar Cabrera, 36, with one count of murder that includes an allegation of using a knife as a deadly weapon.
• An extradition arrest warrant has been issued as investigators work with international authorities to locate him for return to Los Angeles County.
• The Montrose Search and Rescue Team found Sheylla Cabrera’s remains on Aug. 16 in the Angeles National Forest, and the medical examiner has not yet determined a cause of death.
• Surveillance from the couple’s Lancaster apartment showed a person identified as Cabrera dragging a large object wrapped in material later found over an embankment containing her body.
• The couple’s three children were located safe in Peru and placed in protective custody, and officials say the suspect was previously detained in Mexico and Peru but released before charges existed.
