- Prosecutors allege Bhavin Patel, 42, broke into the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration on Aug. 25, Aug. 26 and Sept. 4 to place death threats on a colleague’s desk and nearby cubicles.
- He was charged with three felony counts each of making criminal threats, second-degree burglary and violation of civil rights, according to the district attorney’s office.
- Patel was arrested and released after posting $575,000 bail, and his arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 4.
- District Attorney Nathan Hochman condemned the alleged acts, and County Counsel Dawyn Harrison said the office promptly contacted the Sheriff’s Department to investigate.
- If convicted as charged, Patel faces a maximum sentence of 13 years and four months in state prison; the victim’s name has not been released.
