- Brisbane International organizers confirmed Kyrgios has taken a singles wildcard for the Jan. 4–11 event, his first tour stop in about 10 months.
- His ranking has fallen to around No. 673 and his protected ranking expired on Nov. 17, leaving him reliant on wildcards for Brisbane and a potential Australian Open entry.
- He last played ATP singles in March at Miami, where he lost to Karen Khachanov, after years disrupted by knee and wrist issues and multiple surgeries.
- Kyrgios is scheduled for a Dec. 28 exhibition versus women’s world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in Dubai and will play the Kooyong Classic on Jan. 13–15 for additional match practice.
- The Brisbane men’s field features Daniil Medvedev, Tommy Paul, Frances Tiafoe, Grigor Dimitrov and Joao Fonseca, and Kyrgios is also set to partner Thanasi Kokkinakis in doubles.
