Kyle Schmid Joins ‘NCIS: Origins’ as Young Mike Franks

The prequel series, set to debut in the 2024-25 season, will explore the early years of the NCIS Camp Pendleton office.

Kyle Schmid has been cast as young special agent Mike Franks in the upcoming CBS prequel series “NCIS: Origins,” set to air in the 2024-25 season.
“NCIS: Origins” will explore the early years of the NCIS Camp Pendleton office in 1991, focusing on the formation of a ragtag team led by Mike Franks and including a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs.
Mark Harmon, who plays Gibbs in the original series, will narrate the prequel and serve as an executive producer alongside his son, Sean Harmon, and “NCIS” writers David J. North and Gina Lucita Monreal.
The series aims to extend the “NCIS” franchise, with other projects like a Paramount+ spin-off featuring Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo and “NCIS: Sydney” Season 2 also in development.
Kyle Schmid is known for his roles in “Six,” “Copper,” “Being Human,” and “The I-Land,” and is represented by Mainstay Entertainment.
