• Busch’s No. 8 Chevrolet lost right-rear grip in Group 1 practice, overcorrected and was damaged heavily in a head-on hit to the Turn 1 outside wall.
• The two-time series champion climbed from the wreck uninjured and was cleared by infield medical staff before team strategists shifted focus to a backup chassis.
• By forfeiting qualifying to prepare the replacement car, Busch will roll off at the rear of the field for Sunday’s Iowa Corn 350.
