Overview
- The KVIC handed out Rs300 crore in margin money subsidies to 11,480 service-sector entrepreneurs during an online event on 17 June under the PMEGP scheme.
- Southern states including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala and Puducherry received the highest share with Rs116 crore directed to 4,565 projects.
- All six geographic zones participated, with central India securing Rs72 crore for 2,403 projects, the north Rs61 crore for 2,713 initiatives, the west Rs26 crore for 722 ventures, the east Rs22 crore for 996 enterprises and the northeast Rs2 crore for 81 undertakings.
- Since its launch, the PMEGP scheme has supported the establishment of over one million businesses and generated employment for more than nine million people.
- KVIC Chairman Manoj Kumar said the initiative extends beyond finance to foster a social movement connecting youth, women and artisans with self-employment opportunities.
