Kurt Cobain’s Iconic MTV Unplugged Guitar to Make UK Debut
The Martin D-18E, played during Nirvana’s 1993 acoustic set, will be displayed at London’s Royal College of Music Museum starting June 3, 2025.

- Peter Freedman, who purchased the guitar at auction in 2020 for $6 million, is loaning it to the museum as part of a global exhibition initiative.
- The MTV Unplugged performance, recorded in 1993, showcased a more intimate side of Nirvana and gained iconic status following Cobain’s death in 1994.
