Overview
- A Palghar Zilla Parishad release confirmed Kurgaon’s selection for 2023–24 with a total of Rs 50 lakh in awards.
- Kurgaon received Rs 40 lakh as the district-level winner plus Rs 10 lakh as the taluka-level winner.
- Seven other gram panchayats earned taluka-level prizes of Rs 10 lakh each: Amgaon-Achchad, Hamrapur, Vasuri, Khodala, Khanivade, Jhap, and Gholwad.
- The awards were presented at the conclusion of the Employment Fair and Service Fortnight under the chief minister’s 150-day action programme.
- State Forest Minister and Palghar Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik felicitated the winners and said the initiative encourages cleanliness, environmental conservation, sustainable development, and public participation.
