Matt Kuchar and Camilo Villegas are tied for the lead at the World Wide Technology Championship at Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, each with 19-under par after three rounds. Kuchar had a late-game collapse causing him to lose his 6-shot lead.
Kuchar's collapse began with a quadruple-bogey on the 15th hole followed by a bogey on the next hole, allowing Villegas to catch up in the championship.
Villegas, who is seeking his first victory since 2014 following a personal tragedy, played strongly throughout, even birdying three of his final four holes to tie with Kuchar.
Other players close on their heels include South African Erik van Rooyen at 18-under and three players at 17-under par, including Canadian Mackenzie Hughes who jumped 23 spots up in the leaderboard.
Kuchar previously won the event in 2018 and had his last victory in January 2019 at the Sony Open, while Villegas is battling to regain his full PGA Tour card, currently standing at No. 223 in the FedEx Cup with three tournaments left.
